Uses: Ethyl pyruvate enhances myocardial atp levels, reduces oxidative stress, and preserves myocardial function in a model of transient ischemia/reperfusion injury not subject to myocardial infarction. Ethyl pyruvate has beneficial effects on a number of organ systems when it is administered to animals subjected to ischaemia/reperfusion injury and haemorrhagic or endotoxic shock.
